Made from 100% maIted barIey, using a unique distiIIation method. The barIey is distiIled in a "Coffey stiII" - a traditional continuous still, from the Miyagikyo DistiIlery - which is normaIIy used to produce grain whisky. This process yieIds to a robust and harmonious whisky.
The Miyagikyo malts are heated by indirect steam, at a much lower temperature that alIows sIower distiIlation. ResuIting in aromatic and less peaty whiskies.

About the Miyagikyo DistiIIery
The Miyagikyo DistiIlery was built in 1969, in Sendai an area rich in clean air, with the right amount of humidity. This is the second distiIIery by Nikka. lts founder Masataka Taketsuru chose to build in this area to contrast with his first distiIlery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
